Betty King, President
an architectural designer who has participated in community
development in Maine as a board member of the Genesis Fund and the
Midcoast Coalition for Affordable Housing, and served for many years
on the Woolwich Conservation Commission. She has volunteered doing
art, music and writing projects at Woolwich Central School, and at the
Sweetser Learning and Recovery Center. She has now retired to a very
small, highly efficient passive solar home on the family property in
Woolwich. Contact
Sean Donovan
has two Masters degrees in social work, and grew up in southern
California. He worked for a number of years doing community
development work in South America, in Belize and Mexico, and part of
his heart is still there. Trained as a Franciscan, he is now a very
active member of the United Church of Christ in Bath, serving on the
Good Samaritan ministry. He is a regular attendee at the Bath and
Brunswick soup kitchens, where he has many friends. He shares that
highly efficient passive solar home in Woolwich. Contact
Joanna Krejsa, Secretary
Is a nurse who has served in Haiti both before and after the
earthquake. She speaks, and sings, fluent Creole, and plays the
guitar. She lives, sews, cooks, creates art and gardens on High Street
in Bath. She is presently working with the Sweetser Crisis Team in
Brunswick. She lives on High Street in Bath. Contact
Elaine Varney, Treasurer
has a business background running her own medical records service. She
is fluent with Excel, and probably with other business software that
we will be needing. When not entertaining and being entertained by a
large assortment of family and friends at her home in Georgetown, she
likes to go to business development workshops and conferences. Contact
Cary Huggins
is a nurse who has served the Wiscasset school system, where she
organized extracurricular adventures for her son’s 5th grade class
which included serving regularly as volunteers at the Preble Street
soup kitchen in Portland as well as skiing and bicycling trips. She is
now doing organizational work with the first ( and, so far, the only)
Emmaus community in the United States, the H,O,M.E, Coop in Orland,
which is our model and counselor, and our advocate with Emmaus

Joe Huggins
is expert at fixing anything mechanical, and also an outstanding
networker, team builder and general problem solver. Along with Cary,
he is now deploying his many talents up at the H.O.M.E. Coop. Joe has
owned and operated several small businesses (sometime simultaneously!)
He and Cary still own a house in Westport, and do get down to Bath
from time to time, but communicate with us mostly by phone and email.
Joe also creates spectacular tie-dyed T-shirts, of which each of us
owns at least one. Contact
Tree Harmon
is a R.I.S.D.-trained artist who has her own studio on Front Street,
loves dancing. and works at L.L.Bean. She leads the Chrysalis Dance
Circle at the United Church of Christ in Bath, and coordinates the
Neighborhood Café there on Tuesday nights. Her energy and enthusiasm
are contagious. She lives with her son Sam and her cat Charlie on

Bill Bliss
His background includes, among other things, music, film making, bar
tending and native American Indian spirituality., A graduate of
(info forthcoming) he now serves as the Pastor of the United Church of
Christ, where he is fostering lay leadership and community involvement
on all levels. The church is now involved in a major and innovative
energy efficiency upgrade and is a beehive of community activity all
day and often well into the evening, hosting the Bath Food Bank, the
Neighborhood Café, and several twelve-step programs. Contact
Daniel Janerico
was a founding member of the group that developed the Peer Center, now
known as the Learning and Recovery Center, where he volunteered for
many years and still has many connections. He now lives in Bath where,
limited by some serious health issues, he loves to do internet
research. He has already discovered some important fundraising
resources, and is ready to participate in researching and writing
grant proposals and in developing our furniture recycling fundraiser. Contact
